The Slaton Lions Club will be starting a “membership tour” in the fall months of 2020, starting Monday (Sept. 14), in an effort to find great people that would like to join the club.

They will be meeting Monday at Neal Aircraft, 12106 FM 400 in Slaton at noon.

“Slaton Lions Club is the only service organization left in Slaton, which is why we are motivated to continue,” said Trevor Barnes, Treasurer and a Past President of the Lions Club.

They meet every Monday unless an event cancels it, such as Labor Day.

The club is currently looking for new members to bring new ideas and energy to Slaton. Lions Club has also lost a few “legends” in the past few years including Jim Davis, Clark Self, Dubbin Englund, Larry Neal and Steve Campbell.

Membership is easy to obtain, said Barnes.

“To join Slaton Lions Club, reach out to a member or just show up,” he said. “We are open to anyone wanting a place to connect to the community.  Come give us a try no strings attached.”
