The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees certified Irma Jaramillo as unopposed for Place Three in the general election Tuesday evening (Sept. 8) during a regular meeting.
The general election was also canceled for the position.
SISD Board President Carlos Bentancourt said Jaramillo had drawn an opponent; however, the person had to withdraw, making her the lone candidate for election.
The board also certified unopposed candidates Gabriel Johnson and Jamie Diaz for Places 1 and 2, and canceled the special elections for the positions. Both candidates are fulfilling board positions vacated by Kristel Garcia and Milton Smith, and will now serve a full term.
