The Slaton Economic Development Corporation approved one more COVID grant for a local business Thursday afternoon (Sept. 17) during its regular monthly meeting.

Executive Director Barbara Hopper said the application was for lawyer Bradley Pettiett office, who did not have a client during the COVID closures but had to continue to pay rent. He did however meet the qualifications for the grant.

Originally two more were expected to be awarded grants; however, Hopper added the other potential business did not turn in their application before deadline.
