A fiery, messy situation

Members of the Slaton Fire Department and other fire departments in the area work to extinguish one of two grass fires along the Slaton Highway Wednesday afternoon (Oct. 14), one near Division Street and one near Woodrow Road. A blown out tire tred landed on an overpass, which caused the Woodrow Road fire. There were multiple false reports of a structure on fire, but there was a lot of smoke at both fires.
