Early voting sees surge in participation

The City of Slaton has seen a large turnout in voters the first week of Early Voting, which began Oct. 13.

In the voting for City of Slaton Commissioner Ward 2, a total of 208 have cast their vote. It is the only Ward on the ballot for election, as Ward IV’s Charlie Haynes ran unopposed for a full term.

For Lubbock County, a total of 58,290 have cast their votes so far this Early Voting season.

The State of Texas is conducting Early Voting for three weeks, extended due to COVID restrictions.

Early voting ends Oct. 30 and the general election will be Nov. 3.
