From Staff Reports
Giving Tuesday is just around the corner, and the Slaton Area Endowment is seeking donations to help give back to causes they celebrate.
The annual giving back event began Nov. 3, and donors can go online to slatonareaendowment.org, clicking on Giving Tuesday. This will take the person to a site where they can make a donation by credit card.
Those who wish to not donate online can also send a check to the Slaton Area Endowment at 6102 82nd St., Lubbock TX, 79424 and put “Giving Tuesday” in the memo line.
United Supermarkets in the county will also accept donations at the register from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1. Those interested can tell the cashier they’d like to make a donation to Giving Tuesday, which will be added.
All donations at Slaton United, online and checks for SAE – 100 percent – will go directly to SAE, including any matching dollars based on the total amount raised by all participating non-profits.
The campaign will end at 11:59 p.m. Dec. 1.
Moneys SAE raises will go to grants for non-profits in Slaton. So far 84 have been given.
Groups who have benefitted include the Slaton Citizens Center, Mercy Retreat Center and Slaton City Library.
Another group that has benefitted is the Slaton Police Department, who is also seeking donations for Santa Red and Blue. “(It’s) happening,” said Chief of Police Trevor Barnes. “The community has a need and we will fill it.”
Donations for the program need to be in by Dec. 11, and can be taken by the Police Department, 175 N. 8th St.
