Lions Club helps 9 local non-profits

The Slaton Lions Club presented checks to eight local organizations as part of an effort to launch “Giving Tuesday,” which begins Dec. 1.

Organizations that received checks were MTSS Activity Fund, Santa Red and Blue, Slaton Stock Show, Slaton Ministerial Alliance, Weekend Snack Sack Program, Slaton Band Booster Club,  Slaton Meals On Wheels, Harvey House and the Slaton Athletic Booster Club.

The check presentation was made Monday morning (Nov. 23) at City Hall by Trevor Barnes, Slaton Lions Club Treasurer. Members of the Lions Club were also on hand to present the checks.

The Lions Club is a service organization whose goal is to serve the Slaton Community.

The Club meets every Monday at noon. Currently, they are meeting at the Slaton Independent School District Administration Office as part of their membership drive meetings.
