Chamber to conduct a caroling event Dec. 16
Although Small Town Christmas will not occur this Saturday (Dec. 5), the Slaton Chamber of Commerce has created a smaller event to unite the town and small businesses together for cheer.
A Christmas Caroling Event will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 6:30-7:15 p.m. on the square. The specific location has not yet been set.
Chamber President Jim Andrus said the event would allow for social distancing, blankets – even for people to stay in their cars, but also let all folks sing. There will be several emcees for the night, with the team of Keith Creager and Bruce Finch as Masters of Ceremonies.
Singers will include Slaton school choir directors, participants from Texas Tech, Cactus Theater and others.
A variety of classic and traditional Christmas songs will be sung.
In addition, Santa will make an appearance to lead in singing children’s songs; however, he will stay on a trailer and not visit with youth.
Other potential activities in the works include several bonfires and roasting marshmallows.
