The City of Slaton and Slaton Police Department gained a new officer after he was sworn in Monday evening (Dec. 14) during the Council’s monthly meeting at City Hall.
David Camargo was sworn in by Mayor Lynn Nowlin.
Council also approved three facade grants, one for up to $5,000 for Buxkemper Tax at 166 W. Garza St., one for up to $5,000 for Buxkemper Tax at 160 W. Garza and one for up to $5,000 for Pieceful Quilter.
All three grants were approved by the Slaton Economic Development Corporation Nov. 19, but needed to go through a hearing then through the City’s final approval before they could be used.
