Slaton rings in New Year with snow

Slaton residents had a bit of surprise Thursday night, Dec. 31, as snows came into the area, blanketing it in a layer of snow.
The City received three and a half inches of snow overnight Dec. 31-Jan. 1 according to the National Weather Service in a storm that escaped most of Lubbock.
Some areas, such as Post, had eight and a half inches of snow. Garza County had drifts up to waist height.
Tahoka had about four to five inches, while Crosbyton had about three inches of snow among other listings.
The snow took several days to melt.
