Gins complete 2020 cotton bailing season

The 2020 cotton harvest and bailing season is nearing the end of its run.

Posey Gin finished their bailing last week, completing the ginning season for the area.

The others six gins – Slaton Co-op, Acuff-McClung, Texas Star Co-op, Idalou, Lubbock Cotton Growers and New Home, finished up their seasons earlier in December.

The harvest finished this season ginning 330,798 bales, a 55,969 drop from last year’s total of 386,767.

This year’s count will miss the Top 10.

It will be the first time since 2014 to miss the Top 10 Bale Count.

The current record is 631,181, achieved in 2016.
