Slaton Animal Hospital working on details, nears opening date

Slaton will soon be home to two clinics that offer services to animals.

The Slaton Animal Hospital, located in the old VFW Hall, 130 E. Lynn St.,  is working on the finishing touches so it can open up soon.

Samantha Thomas, DVM, said it had been a “dream of hers” to own a practice.

That said, it took a while for her to find the right location.

“I worked for Dr. (Martin) Brillhart up until his passing, and when it didn’t work out to buy his property I started looking at potential locations inside town,” she said. “My husband and I have lived in Slaton since 2003, except for the four years I was in veterinary school. This is where we have chosen to live, send our kids to school and work.

“Having grown up in Lubbock and now being in Slaton for so long, I really have come to prefer the small town way of life. My goal is to provide clients with the same services they’d find at vet clinics in Lubbock, so they can stay close to home.”
