SISD board conducts training
The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees conducted a Board training session during a special meeting Thursday (Jan. 28) at the Slaton ISD Administration Office.
The Board met in executive session for an hour for evaluation of the Board, under Chapter 551 section 551.074 of the Texas Open Meetings Act, which covers approval of employments, assignments, suspensions, resignations and Board evaluations. There was no action taken on any items when they reconvened in open session.
The Board then began a team building workshop provided by the Education Service Center, Region 17. This training is done every two years and was six hours of continuing credit for the Board.
It was presented by Dr. Kyle Wargo, Executive Director, Education Service Center 17 and Mr. Wayne Blount, Associate Executive Director of Administrative Service, ESC 17.
Wargo said the biggest objective that the Texas Education Agency found was “Children’s behaviors don’t change until adults do.”
