The City of Slaton Commissioners heard an overall positive report on their annual audit Monday evening (March 8) during its regular monthly meeting at City Hall.

David Copeland of Bolinger, Segars, Gilbert and Moss presented the report, saying the report was clean and there were no new accounting pronouncements.

“The financial position of the City is looking a lot better this year. You all improved your net position, you improved your cash position, so I think I’m happy seeing improvement over the previous year,” said Copeland, adding he remembered talking about last year’s health and said he feels it’s improving.

He said the statement and deposition improved somewhat over the previous year statement. Cash and cash equivalents improved $870,000 over the past year, going up to $1.684 million.

The overall net position was $6,411,000, improving by $393,665.
