The Slaton Tiger Powerlifting team repeated its girls team’s Regional meet last week, qualifying a boys-powerlifter to the State Tournament.
Chris Rader, a senior, finished second in his weight division Saturday (March 13) during the Regional meet conducted in Sundown.
Rader said he’s excited for the upcoming meet. “This will be my first time going to State in anything,” he said. “It took lots of hard work but I am very excited and blessed to have received the opportunity.”
Other athletes competing for Slaton were, Toby Crabb, who finished in fifth, Eddie Betancourt, who placed seventh and Alex Quintero, who finished ninth.
Rader will now compete at the THSPA State Championships in Abilene on March 27.
