The Slaton Economic Development Corporation had a light meeting Thursday afternoon (March 18), conducting a public hearing and discussing recent construction.
The Board opened up a public hearing at 11:50 a.m. for discussion regarding the use of Type B sales tax funds for Slaton Animal Hospital. A building construction grant for up to $10,000 was approved by both SEDCO and the City, and needed to have the public hearing before it was finalized.
No one came to talk about the grant and the hearing was closed at noon.
Executive Director Barbara Hopper then presented a report on the annual SEDCO audit put together by Bolinger, Segards, Gilbert and Moss for the fiscal year, which ended Sept. 30, 2020.
She said the audit was clean and was “great,” adding some adjustments were made by the auditor, which she said are always done in the auditing process. “He said just leave it like you do it and I’ll fix them every year for you at the end,” said Hopper. She added the auditor said he appreciated SEDCO reporting everything in the audit, including emailing them frequently during the year to keep him apprised.
