Slaton Police Chief Trevor Barnes was elected Sergeant at Arms for the Texas Police Chiefs Executive Board during the 62nd  Annual Texas Police Chiefs Conference last week in Fort Worth.

He was one of three area police chiefs to be elected to the Board.

Also elected were Albert Garcia of Levelland PD as Third Vice President and Floyd Mitchell of Lubbock PD as Secretary. The trio, all from the South Plains Region, make up half of the Executive Board.

Barnes said he was humbled to be elected to the Board. “(It’s) extremely unexpected,” he said, adding out of more than 2,400 chiefs in the State he was elected to a seat on the Board.
