3 vie for Commissioner Ward IV position

Three candidates for City of Slaton Commissioner Ward IV were given a set of questions that were also asked of the mayoral candidates as presented in the forum last Wednesday (April 14).

Frank Cisneros, Valarie Cubit and Brad Gaydos are all running for Commissioner Ward IV.

(Editor’s note: All three candidates’ questions were sent by The Slatonite Thursday morning, April 15, with a deadline of 5 p.m. Monday to submit their answers. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order for fairness).

Question: Why do you want the job?

Cisneros: I want a City commissioner seat in order to provide a voice for my constituents in ward 4. In addition, I would like to be a part of an exciting time of economic growth for our community. I see great things on the horizon for Slaton and I want to be a part of the team that brings about this exciting times.

Cubit: I would love to see our City grow and to be restored to the once beautiful and welcoming place it use to be. I would love to see new families move here to grow as my family did.

Gaydos: I would like this position to help my community. I would like to work with the people in Ward 4 to make things happen. I believe that listening to what people in my ward need and taking that info to the City council is the biggest part of this position.
