The City of Slaton swore in two commissioners into office Monday evening (May 10) during its regular meeting at City Hall.

Tony Newton was sworn in as Commissioner Ward I, while Benny Lopez was sworn in for Commissioner Ward III.

The voting results were also canvassed by City Secretary Pam King.

There were two other elections on the ballot, for Mayor and Commissioner Ward IV, but both will be in runoffs. The results of these elections were canvassed as well, and a  runoff election will be conducted June 5.

The Board approved a special election order for the Mayor and Ward IV runoffs.
