The Slaton Track boys team competed in three events at the University Interscholastic League meet Thursday (May 6) at Austin.

The 4X200 meter relay team of Andre Trotty, Ethan Anzley, Jacorein Doss and Damion Tagle finished ninth in the race with a time of 1:31.43.

Chris Rader placed sixth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.67.

The 4X400 meter relay of Anzley, Doss, Rader and Tagle placed fourth missing third by a mere 1/100th of a second with a 3:23.87 finish.

Though no runner came home with any hardware, Coach Jacob Dangerfield was still quite happy for the runners and how well they performed at State.

They also made sure to enjoy every moment of the trip.

“The boys were excited to be in the State track meet. We ran well in our races. Personal records in two of the three,” he said.

“We also stayed for the races on Friday 2A/5A, and Saturday 1A/6A. The athletes really enjoyed watching the big schools run, visiting the Capital and watching so many records being broken.”
