The Slaton softball team had a season to remember, advancing to the State tournament July 9-13 in Abilene.

The team finished fourth in the tournament.

The team was the first in 12 years to have advanced to the State tournament.

Coach Jessie Rios said it was a fun learning experience for the team. “It was definitely a different environment from what we were use to,” he said. “Tougher teams but I’d say overall it was just a learning experience for these girls and even us as coaches. Glad we were able to be a part of it all.”
