Those attending Roosevelt High School’s scrimmage and Meet the Eagles’ event Friday (Aug. 13) may have been surprised to see a new look to the field.
Instead of grass, the school now has a turf field.
Athletic Director Jim Miller said the administration had been considering several possibilities of adding turf on the field for several years.
“In the early Spring of 2020 those conversations became more of a reality as (Superintendent Dallas) Grimes and the board began taking bids from companies on turfing the football field,” he said. “The board approved the purchase and installation of the turf field by Symmetry, a company based in East Texas.
“Symmetry began installation in late April and completed it in time for our summer workouts that started on June 2.”
Head Coach Matt Landers said he was excited to have the field and the effort to get it put into place.
“We have an amazing school board and superintenden,” he said. “They are 100 percent in for kids and making sure our student athletes have the best facilities and equipment to be able to compete everyday. We can’t thank them enough.”
