The Slaton Police Department was one of several involved in a car pursuit that went through the City Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 1) leading to the arrest of two.
The pursuit started in Lubbock, where a DPS trooper attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation. During this time, the subjects did not stop and fled. DPS went into pursuit, starting on Marsha Sharp Freeway and I-27, where the violation occurred.
LPD and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office joined, then later SPD when it headed toward Slaton after turning off FM 1585 and Hwy. 84 toward Slaton. Chief of Police Trevor Barnes said the vehicle swerved, attempting to hit Officer Joseph Kibitlewski in the pursuit, but missed.
