Ag, Commerce Banquet back after 2020 cancellation, set for Sept. 27

The Slaton Ag and Commerce Banquet returns Sept. 27 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Activities Center.

The event, which has been conducted for 50 years, was cancelled in 2020 due to COVID.

Three awards will be presented: Farmer of the Year, Railroader of the Year and Farm Hand of the Year.  All three are nominated by their peers and a committee decides winners.

The First Bale Award, presented by Happy State Bank, will also be presented to the gin who produces the first bale in the Slaton Trade Area.

Danny’s Fins and Hens will be catering the meal.
