Locals win honors at South Plains Fair

From Staff Reports

Exhibitors from all over Lubbock County, including Slaton, participated in the Panhandle South Plains Fair Sept. 24-Oct. 2.

Strong crowds filled the fairgrounds both weeks, buoyed by less rule restrictions this year after COVID dampened most of the activities the fair offered in 2020.

Last year’s attendance was 107,578, down from 2019’s 165,505. No number has been listed for this year’s event as of press time Tuesday (Oct. 5).

Slaton individuals won several awards in their categories.

These include animal, craft, and art exhibitors.

For a list of winners, please read the Thursday edition of the Slatonite.
