The Slaton Economic Development Corporation tabled a contract with Leading EDG Thursday afternoon (Oct. 21) during its monthly meeting.

Executive Director Barbara Hopper said the group, which helps businesses on a pathway to success, was currently having trouble finding a facilitator for the area.

“They don’t have enough businesses to justify paying salaries (to the facilitator),” she said, adding SEDCO was asked if they could wait on the effective date on the contract.

She added as long as the contract was started in the budget year they would be OK to delay it.  If it were to go past September 2022, when the new year begins, they will have to gather a new contract and start again.

Hopper added Leading EDG approved all the changes SEDCO requested to the contract.
