2 teams advance to football playoffs

The Slaton and Roosevelt High School football teams will be vying for a Bi-District title this week after completing their District season.

Slaton finished fourth in their District with a 2-3 record, behind Shallowater (5-0), Denver City (4-1) and Brownfield (3-2). Lamesa and Kermit did not advance.

Roosevelt (5-0) is the undisputed District Champion for its District.

Slaton will now play Bushland this Friday (Nov. 12) at 7 p.m. in Bushland. Gates will open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $4 for adults, $2 for children and can be purchased at https://gofan.co/app/events/447905?schoolId=TX71512.

There will be no paper tickets sold of any kind and all must be purchased through GoFan.

Slaton fans are asked to park East of The stadium in the baseball parking lot to enter in the visitor entrance.

Roosevelt topped District 3A, Division 2, District 4 with a perfect season. It is the first time the school has had a perfect season.

Others advancing are Abernathy (4-1), Idalou (3-2) and Stanton (2-3). Coahoma and Reagan County did not advance.

Roosevelt will now play a Bi-District game against Pearman at 7 p.m. Friday at River Road. The school will have an early release in order to make the trip.

Southland and Wilson finished their seasons for year.

Southland did not win a game in their District and finished the season overall with a 1-9 record. They did  not win a game in District; however, the Eagles completed the season after having to forfeit the remainder last year due to too few players.

Wilson finished its season with a 1-9 record. They did not win a game during District, and also completed their season.
