City continues work on replacing old water line

The City of Slaton is continuing work on a water line that has temporarily closed roads.

Mayor Clif Shaw said the City lost water in a section of the town and had to replace the old line, which is located parallel to 9th St. Some roads, such as by First Baptist Church, were closed for a short time. Lubbock Street closed Monday with detours.

Shaw said brick roads will remain closed until more packing is done so the road is safe to travel on.

The plan is to continue work all the way to Garza before completion.
