Lions present 9 with checks for Giving Tuesday

Nine local organizations received checks totaling $2,100   from the Slaton Lions Club Monday (Nov. 22) during its weekly meeting.

Groups that benefitted were the Weekend Snack Sack, Ministerial Alliance, Multiple Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), Slaton Athletic Booster Club, Slaton Band Booster Club, Ag Booster Club, Santa Red & Blue, Slaton Cub Scouts and Meals on Wheels.

Chief of Police Trevor Barnes, who is also Lions Club President, spoke to the recipients. “I know this is not a whole lot of money for your organization but we’re just trying to set a trend,” he said, adding that he hoped more people would give money on Giving Tuesday, which will be Nov. 30 this year.
