SEDCO nears contract with Leading EDG

The Slaton Economic Development Corporation came one step closer to having a contract with Leading EDG Thursday (Nov. 18) during its monthly meeting.

Executive Director Barbara Hopper said she had heard from Matty McLean from the company, who said they expected to be approximately 30 days from having a consultant for Slaton.

The group helps small businesses with several areas to expand business.

The Board also approved sponsorship for the Chamber’s Small Town Christmas set for Dec. 4. A $750 promotional sponsorship was approved.

SEDCO approved transferring excess funds from the checking to money market accounts to earn more interest. All but about $200,000 were moved to the money market account, which is at Peoples Bank.
