Final 4!: Roosevelt football to play in State Semifinals Friday

The Roosevelt Eagles football team has a State medal coming its way.
Question is – what color will it be?
Part of that answer depends on who wins this week’s game – the State Semifinal match between the Eagles and the Gunter Tigers Friday evening (Dec. 10) at 7 p.m. at Abilene Christian University.
Roosevelt punched their ticket to the State final four with a decisive 36-14 win over the Abernathy Antelopes Dec. 3. (See story, page 8).
Head Coach Matt Landers said this moment was special for everyone who is a part of the team – any side of the field. “It’s very special for our players and community and everyone that has supported Roosevelt over the years, the alumni, School Board, administration, parents, coaches’ wives, everyone,” he said.
Dallas Grimes, RISD Superintendent, also congratulated the Eagles on this milestone accomplishment. “The entire Roosevelt ISD community is extremely proud of our Eagle football team, coaching staff, band and cheer squad. This is a hard working group of students, they are respectful and play the game the right way,” he said. “The way they behave in the classroom and their work ethic makes them easy to root for. We are happy to see all their hard work pay off and are thankful to be part of this fun ride.”
