Roosevelt’s historic football run ends in State Semis

The Roosevelt Eagles made history advancing to the State Semifinals – first time ever in the school’s history.
The furthest they ever came was Regional rounds in prior years.
Their historic run however came to an end Friday evening (Dec. 10) at Abilene Christian University when the team lost 47-12 against the 2020 State Semifinalist Gunter Tigers. (See story, page 4)
Even though the Eagles (14-1) fell short of making a visit to AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Head Coach Matt Landers could not be more proud of his team.
“I am so proud of the players, especially our seniors. This has been a very special year that was led by our seniors and the players. We had a player lead team this year and when you have that, you are in for a special year,” he said.
“I am so happy for our seniors and our team and they will remember this season the rest of their lives and remember the great times they had with their teammates.”
