The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees condcted a public hearing in regard to redistrictin of SISD’s single member precincts Thursday evening (Dec. 9) during the board’s regular monthly meeting.

Board President Carlos Bentancourt opened the hearing at 7:23 p.m.

Andrus said this was being done because after a Census takes place, the district has to get demographers to view the districts. If there is achange of 10 percent or more, particularly in the minority representation they have to redistrict.

Slaton was 28 percent off.

Three maps were displayed, and one was chosen. The hearing closed at 7:25 p.m. when no one gave a comment on the redistricting. Plan C was approved later.
