Flying Scotsman go on Exhibit at Harvey House

The Harvey House has been busy since reopening from COVID closures.

In addition to reopening the building for tours and events as well as stays, volunteers brought back their New Year’s Beans and Cornbread lunch Saturday afternoon (Jan. 1).

Now they are continuing the Harvey House’s return with exhibits.

The Harvey House will open an exclusive photo and memorabilia exhibit from the 1970 Flying Scotsman’s stay in Slaton between its 1969 and 1970 American tours.

More than 50 never-before-seen photographs by Bill Wagner of the world famous engine train, roundhouse and turntable, as well as its travel to other Texas cities will be on display.

Wagner will be at the opening of the exhibit Saturday (Jan. 8) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

He will answer questions and autograph copies of a book that tells the story of his time with the Flying Scotsman as it traveled  through Texas and the Midwest.

There is no charge to view the exhibit.

The Harvey House is located at 400 Railroad Ave. For more information, call 806-828-5900.
