Top 3: Ginning hits record while season continues

From Staff Reports

Last year, the cotton ginning season finished out of the Top 10 counts.

Now, it is in the top three.

All gins except one are still ginning bales. Acuff-McClung finished ginning last week.

The total for 2021 hit the third place marker last week at press time (Dec. 28) with 550,916 bales.

It’s just shy of the top two spots.

The season started in early October and is currently at 600,036 bales as of press time Tuesday (Jan. 4).

Current bale count as of Jan. 4 is WesTex Coop at 141,675 baled; Acuff-McClung finishing its year at 48,378; Texas Star Co-op at 119,741; New Home Co-op at 64,079; Lubbock Cotton Growers at 155,873 and Idalou Co-op at 70,290.
