Slaton High brings old traditions back to gymnasium

The Slaton High School Gymnasium looked a little bit different when fans returned home to watch the teams take on the Roosevelt Eagles Tuesday evening (Jan. 4). (See story, page 4)

Posters of each player, team photos and new signs adorn the walls.

Athletic Director Lawrence Johnson said this is part of a way to bring attention to the hard work the basketball team does. “We wanted to create a real basketball culture and sense of Tiger pride,” he said. “Our gym was missing a basketball presence to promote our players and school pride. So we added their pictures and our school song to the walls.”

It is not the only idea that the school has for updates in the gymnasium.
