2 Churches hosting events Saturday
Two churches are hosting special events this Saturday (Feb. 26) at their churches.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, will host a Fat Saturday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the church, 4th and Knox streets. This is a nod to Fat Tuesday, which will be conducted Tuesday (March 1) and is a fundraiser with food and music.
In addition, Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 877 Flint St., will be hosting an African American History Month Celebration from 1-3 p.m. Saturday.
The event will pay homage to their ancestors. There will be guest speakers, including Lubbock Police Department Police Chief Floyd Mitchell, author Teffanie White-Hanson and local teachers.
There will also be poems, singing and a display of Black History Month in the cafeteria.
