Bailing hits new No. 1 record as season ends

From Staff Reports

It may not have hit 750,000, but the 2021 cotton ginning season shattered the previous top record.

New Home finished their bailing last week, completing the ginning season for the area.

The other six gins – Wes-Tex Co-op, Acuff-McClung, Texas Star Co-op, Idalou and Lubbock Cotton Growers finished up their seasons earlier in the year. The harvest finished this season ginning 741,556 bales, up 410,758 from last year’s total of 330,798.

This year’s count doubled and then some from last year.

It shattered the 2016 bale count top record of 641,181.

This is also after Posey Gin closed its doors at the end of last season.

All gins saw gains over the previous year.
