Dekraker honored for work with FBI on criminal case

Steve Dekraker of the Slaton Police Department was one of 15 West Texas law enforcement agencies who were honored for their roles in combatting crimes against children during an awards reception Wednesday (Feb. 23) at Peoples Bank in Lubbock.

FBI Dallas Special Agent in Charge Matthew J. DeSarno acknowledged the efforts of the groups.

A total of 18 investigations done by the agencies were highlighted.

More than 80 crimes against children cases were prosecuted in the West Texas  are between 2019-21.

The 18 investigations featured lead to the result of 270 years in federal prison and three life sentences.
