DEIIC recommends 2022-23 school calendar for board
The DEIIC approved a school calendar to present to the Slaton ISD School Board of Trustees Wednesday afternoon (March 2) during its monthly meeting.
Superintendent Jim Andrus said there were three District of Innovation designed calendars for the 2022-23 year, one of which was the current one and two others with changes.
Most of the people who had been asked about the calendar preferred the third option, which has a change on the Christmas holiday giving students two full weeks break plus Jan. 2 to help folks adjust to school schedules before returning to classes.
Other items were also discussed such as removing a goals week date as it was no longer in use. Goals day would be changed to March 20, setting up a time for parent/teacher conferences, have a planning day and being the day before the final nine weeks of school.
