Several Cathelene Thomas Elementary fifth grade students had the opportunity to put what they’ve learned in school and compete against others recently during a Destination: Imagination competition.
It was the first year CTE has competed in the event, and they placed fifth out of seven total teams.
Teacher Taryn Painter, who along with Christi Tomme lead the team, said the program is a collaborative program to get students to solve challenges using creative thinking and problem solving. “They choose a challenge – and there are many to choose from: engineering based, science based, acting/fine arts, improve based) and work all year to create props, skits, unique costumes, etc. for the challenge they choose,” she said.
