Slaton seniors wanting a bit of time to meet with others, have coffee and visit with each other – other than just meals at the Slaton Senior Citizens Center, will have a new opportunity to do so.
Third Mondays are starting beginning this Monday (March 21) at the Center, 230 W. Lynn St. from 8-10:30 a.m.
Director Nita Williams said the new event was brought back starting with an idea from a member. “I was visiting with a gentleman and he mentioned he missed having coffee with the group of his friends, said they would meet at a couple of places but COVID stopped that,” she said.
“The thought occurred to open the Center so there would be a place to gather. Third Monday is the result of that conversation.”
The event will feature coffee and a light snack – coffee, juice and muffins, as well as activities. “We will have a place to play cards, dominoes, work puzzles, read and shoot some pool,” said Williams.
All are invited to attend the event.
