The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees celebrated accomplishments of students Thursday evening (March 10) during its monthly meeting.

The Board also approved new teachers and administration contracts for next year.

The Honor Choir from Cathelene Thomas Elementary presented a couple of songs for the Trustees and guests.

Destination Imagination was also recognized for its first ever appearance in contest. The team placed fifth out of seven teams in the event.

In the High School, Powerlifting girls who qualified for State and medaled at Regional were also honored.

“It is the first time ever the school has taken four powerlifters to State,” said Coach Bo Medley.

Those qualifying are three-time State qualifier Amaya Ramos, two-time Regional and first-time State qualifier Jaclyn Loera, and first-time Regional and State qualifiers Paige Rodriquez and Sierra Rodriquez.

The Regional qualifying boys were also recognized.
