In 2019, Amaya Ramos saw her State Powerlifting meet disappear due to COVID cancellations. Last year, she placed fourth overall in her division.

This year – her last year to compete, the senior had a golden end to her Slaton High School Powerlifting career.

Ramos, one of four SHS girls powerlifters,  won Weight Class 181 with a total of 1,000 pounds Thursday afternoon (March 17) during the Texas State Women’s Powerlifting Association State Finals.

Her fellow teammates, also placed in the event, with none bombing out.

Jaclyn Loera finished seventh in Weight Class 165, lifting a total of 855 pounds, Paige Rodriquez finished 13th in Weight Class 123 with at total of 695 pounds and Sierra Rodriquez finished 13th in Weight Class 181, lifting a total of 850 pounds.
