The Slaton Economic Development Corporation approved a spending cap for Executive Director Barbara Hopper and discussed other business items Thursday afternoon (March 17) during its monthly meeting.

The Board approved amending Hopper’s spending cap to $1,500.

Also discussed was partnering with the Slaton Independent School District on their media project. Hopper said she met with Superintendent Jim Andrus about this project, which would feature ads on Google and YouTube. She said the ads would start out as one minute long, then progress down to as fast as 15 seconds.

She added that currently it would just be the school, who would also absorb the set up costs, but they believe it will expand to busiensses. The ads would be geared to online because of how younger generions don’t watch TV, and older groups still will search for items online.
