Resident donates old train collections to Harvey House

Glenn C. Williamson is a humble man, not wanting accolades, which  showed when he donated his collection of Lionel trains and other engines to the Slaton Harvey House recently. That included doing an interview for the paper.

“I don’t do these things to have my name in lights but I will if I think that we can make it benefit the Harvey House to another degree,’ he said. “There might be somebody that reads the article that says ‘well, that’s an idea. I can do that with my whatever collection.’”

Williamson said he supports a couple of 501(c)3 groups, and felt that giving the train collection to the Harvey House would help benefit them.

“It was given to them with the understanding that they would sell them, and they will and it’ll make a nice donation to them,” he said. “I look for some place to give my stuff to that it will benefit somebody else, whether it’s the item itself or the cash that it might bring.
