The Slaton Economic Development Corporation discussed murals for the town square and other ways to draw in business and residential living Thursday afternoon (Aug. 18) during its regular monthly meeting, It also approved a budget to send to City council for approval.

Barbara Hopper, Executive Director, said there was discussion for types of murals to spark interest in Slaton, such as wings people could stand in front of, and mentioned a couple of artists who have also stated an interest in painting interactive murals. There was discussion about creating a committee to put together a list of designs that were wanted on the square.

The Board also talked about the upcoming budget. Hopper presented two proposed budgets, with the difference being cost of living for the staff. One would not have a raise and a $60 longevity pay while the other would keep both intact.
