The annual Slaton Stock Show Dinner and Dance fundraiser was conducted Saturday evening (Aug. 27) at The Lumber Co. in Slaton.
Amber Davis, who coordinated the event, said they had approximately 160 people in attendance.
More than $40,000 was raised in the live and silent auctions from the fundraiser.
“It was a record breaking fundraiser. We’re thankful to everyone who contributed,” said Davis.
The Lumber Co. is a new venue, next to Heirloom Flowers & Goods. The store is owned by Danielle Talkmitt and Kandyce Parsons, both of whom know the Slaton FFA well.
“We were honored to be the very first event at the Lumber Co,” said Davis. “The owners are former FFA
members and are strong supporters of our Slaton Ag Program. They were instrumental in making our event a successful fundraiser,” she said.
The event featured a steak dinner cooked by the Ag boosters with sides from Pitforks and Smokerings, dancing with music presented by the Joe Trevino Band, and a live auction.
Davis said most of the money raised will be put mostly toward the Slaton Stock Show, which this year will be conducted Dec. 31.
