Traveling Vietnam War memorial to appear in Lubbock through Sept. 25

From Staff Reports

American Veterans Traveling Tribute’s Vietnam Wall will be at Memorial Circle at Texas Tech now through Sept. 25.

Englunds Funeral Service and Pauline’s Flowers sponsored wreaths for the exhibit, which is being brought to Lubbock by Texas Tech University in partnership with Military and Veterans Programs and the Texas South Plains Honor Flight.

The Memorial Wall is a replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., and allows those who have not been able to see it to find names of those on the memorial. Cadets will be on hand to help people find names on the wall.

The public is invited; however, parking is not free on the Texas Tech Campus. There will be free parking at First Baptist Church at 2201 Broadway St., except on Sunday during worship times.

They also are asked to place a sign on the windshield saying “Visiting the AVTT.”

There will be a closing ceremony at 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit Texas Tech’s MVP website  at www.depts.ttu.edu/mvp/ or call 806-742-6877.
