The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a five-year lease with the Masonic Lodge Tuesday evening (Sept. 13) during their monthly meeting.

The lease is to use the space on the bottom floor of the building, where the Cosmetology Department is located.

Financial Director Art Martin said they needed to renew the lease and negotiated with the Masonic Lodge.

While the rent did go up to $1,000 per month from $850, Martin said this agreement would be for five years.

There is also a termination clause, which will allow the groups to get out of the agreement if the Board chooses to do so.

They must give a 180 day agreement to leave the building without penalty.

The Board also approved a fuel bid. Martin said only one group, Tucker Oil, submitted a bid, which is a three-year contract. He added the cost of delivery dropped, adding to benefit for SISD.
